We had decided to book a catamaran and spend a few hours on the water in the morning. It came with our choice of a paddle board or a kayak. At first I was going to get the paddle board but they suggested the kayak for more ease of use for the kids. I am so glad we got it because both kids were insanely excited to use it and learned so quickly.
Our first part of the morning we spent at a little quiet area where they said we might see some fish for snorkeling. We did see some big fish around us but were more fascinated by the hermit crabs! Riley would NOT get in the water though. She was worried about the color of it or the seaweed or something.
We then went over to Crab Island. It was a fun atmosphere over there, and we were all excited by the ice cream 'boat'! I was excited about the float up daiquiri bars too, but they were super pricey so in the end I just drank the drinks we brought in the cooler. The water was the same there, but Riley saw so many other people in the water that she realized it was fine! And then she was sad she hadn't explored the other area with us as much! Roy and Leighton played football and we all did some more kayaking.
We wanted to check out all the gators at Fudpuckers on our way back to the hotel.
We then went back to the hotel and to the beach for the rest of the afternoon. The water was much calmer than the day before, so Riley was very happy!
After Happy Hour, we drove to Lulu's to see the sunset and have a small dinner. The food is typical tourist food but the location and atmosphere is really neat.
Looks like a fabulous Florida vacation day!
