On September 23rd, Riley turned 7 years old!
The day before her birthday, she asked for a bouquet of roses in teal and pink to share with her class as her birthday treat:
And then her birthday started out with her opening some gifts:
And then lunch at Grimaldi's:
And then we surprised her with an appointment to get her ears pierced. She had been asking, so I found a place that did both ears at the same time since I knew she'd find it really painful (judging on her response to her immunizations and flue shots every year!). I didn't get any pictures of video of the actual event since I was instructed to hold her hand and then she cried in pain. A lot.
But we managed to calm her down and tempt her with a cupcake at the bakery next door:
And then she was happy to show off her new pierced ears!
In the evening we went to a Rice Owls football game. The kids had been invited and given free tickets through the summer reading program.
It's amazing how quickly 7 years can go by and how my 'little' baby went from this ...
to this!

Yes it is amazing how fast those 7 years have gone by. Still love those B&W photos I took.
