Spring Break post #1: Bad hair day

My mom brought my niece to visit for Spring Break.  We were really excited to find out that her time off coincided perfectly with Leighton's!  They were here for a little over a week, and we had a wonderful (and extremely busy!) time.

The first full day they were here, we went to Snip Its in Rice Village for Leighton to get a hair cut.  We've had a good run of pretty decent or excellent hair cuts for him over the last few years.  There have been two less than impressive cuts however, and after this one, our total is now three.  This one wasn't nearly as bad as the other two, thankfully.  The shape was fine, but she just took a bit too much off.  Far from a catastrophe.  And, I've learned from his previous bad cuts that his hair will grow out and life will go on (and there is no need to spend three days crying about it.  Me, not him.  True story.  But, to my credit, I was a few weeks pregnant with Riley and had no idea, so the hormones were to blame!).

We then hit up Half Price Books (Grandma treated the kids to lots of new ones) and wandered in and out of a couple clothing stores.  Then it was off to Buffalo Wild Wings for lunch.  There are so many cute and delicious looking restaurants there, but with the littles and the teen with us, we played it safe and went where there was chicken and french fries (I had packed some fruits and  vegetables to round out the meal because I know they never used to have anything of the sort with their kids meals, but they now had apple slices to offer, at least at this location).

It was well past Riley's nap time and we were figured skipping her nap might help get her on track after the time change, so we went to Whitt Johnson Park (the website is mistakenly going to a different West U park at the moment, but hopefully that will be fixed at some point!) to play for a while.

From the park, we headed home and then walked along the bayou to Walgreens and then came home for dinner.

End of busy day #1!

*thanks to my Mom and Kirsten for providing all the photos for this post!
