I haven't posted any gardening updates in a while, so I thought I would show you what things are looking like after all our rain lately. Some plants are very happy and some are .... not.
| a new bloom makes me hopeful that the calla lilies are happy |
| tomatoes are very happy, but they might be happier with more sunshine to ripen them up |
| happy peppers |
| another pepper plant thinking about being happy |
| very happy beans |
| since I took this photo, these have been so happy they grew enough for me to get the kids to pick them tomorrow |
| happy hibiscus |
| still happy |
| this snapdragon is more temperamental than Riley! it never knows whether to be happy or not |
| getting more and more unhappy by the day |
| new growth = happy |
| and more new growth |
| very unhappy |
| but the two sisters of the the unhappy red sister are happy! |
| see? happy! |
| little happy oranges |
| and more on another branch |
| small but happy lemon tree |
| so happy, in fact, that there are two little baby lemons |
| if happiness is measured in growth, the lime tree wins for the most height gained |
| are those grapefruits coming? |
| persimmon flowers - that is what the bottom of a persimmon looks like, so I think I will be very happy in the fall if these grow! |
| more happy persimmon flowers |
| and another because I get very happy looking at them! |
| that goes for the hibiscus, too. i love that it is always happy no matter what the weather is doing |
| hibiscus happy |
| me happy |
All the rain also makes the kids happy - more puddles to splash in! We went for a walk on the Bayou yesterday afternoon after yes another heavy rain storm in the morning.
| Looking at turtles on the other side |
| Take my picture, take my picture! |
| Mine want to see Leighton's picture! |
| You can see how high the water was yesterday, but also on the far left near the top of the grassy bank, you can see the line of dead grass and scattered garbage to show where it was up to two weeks ago |
i read this post on my phone as sascha and a friend were inside at our computer desk... i came inside and made them stop what they were doing so i could show them my absolutely adorable niece and nephew. riley's hair!!!!!! it is always in 'pono tails' so i didn't know it was so long! (and, apparently she is as happy as your plants since she seems to have grown since last week's posts!)
ReplyDeleteyour plants are wonderful. we are having a rough time this year - a very bad year for snails (well.. a good year for the snails, but a bad year for those of us who like to plant things). our little orange tree was completely destroyed - we haven't put any vegetables in the ground yet because everyone else has said their plants are gone overnight - AND.. to add insult to injury, they even got into the cabinet on the terrace where we store all our seeds and ate through the packages! really horrid. thankfully they don't seem interested in cactus (though i did see a silvery trail spiraling around our spikiest one... weird creatures.)
silly snails! that's nuts!
Deleteriley's hair is crazy long - when it's wet in the bath i always get surprised how far down her back it goes.
The plants look (for the most part) great! I can't believe how much my flower garden grew in the last week. It was hot and sunny every day and everything is so much bigger than when I weeded and set out the soaker hoses last weekend. And we will have to cut the grass soon too.
ReplyDeleteMost of it is still happy this week. That big one in the back corner is extremely unhappy though :(
DeleteLovely photos and especially captions. :) You may need to get some Nutria (spelling?) for snails. :)
ReplyDeleteooooh, thanks for the tip! I will have to look it up!
DeleteLove the puddle jumping pictures. They made me smile. :)
