Weekend activities

Last Saturday we spent the morning at the Children's Museum.  We hadn't been in a while, and the kids were so thrilled to be back.

On Sunday, we were at the zoo.  We went to see the newly opened LEGO animals and the recently renovated flamingo exhibit.  We have never been to the area where the flamingos are, so that was fun to see.  And the LEGO animals were really impressive.  We had seen a similar exhibit at the Philadelphia Zoo in 2009 and The Bronx Zoo in 2011.  I actually read that the Bronx Zoo helped the Houston Zoo with this, and some of the animals looks pretty familiar!  I still need to compare photos, but I know I have one of Leighton with the tiger and frogs in the Bronx - will be fun to see how much smaller he was then.  The kids were also eager to play in the splash park because it had been closed since the fall.  It was super hot, so it was nice to get accidentally splashed a time or two!  We then had a picnic lunch and the kids got a free snocone for completing a special Memorial Day activity.  Leighton loved his, of course.  Riley though the first bite was SO yummy but refused any more after that!

  1. Looks like way more lego animals at this zoo than when we saw them in the Bronx. Looks like total fun.
