A couple of weeks ago, Leighton was invited to a classmate's birthday party that was held at a nearby bowling alley. His mom said for us to bring Riley along too, and both kids were so excited to go bowling. Like crazy excited. Neither of them really had any idea what it was all about, though!
When it was time to get ready, they both ran to get dressed into some 'party clothes' and were waiting by the door ready to go in record time. As I said, crazy excited!
When we got there, we got Leighton some bowling shoes, but we opted out of getting some for Riley. The woman handing out the shoes said it didn't matter. So, since I didn't feel like dealing with the negotiations of getting her to take off the sparkly shoes to put on the bowling shoes only to have to deal with the negotiations to do the reverse an hour later, we just told her they didn't come in her size. Yes, I lied to my child. And I don't feel badly about it at all. I will offer her the shoes next time! Maybe :)
The kids had a lot of fun. And they did really well. Unfortunately, we didn't get a chance to finish our game before the pizza and cake arrived, but Leighton had 3 strikes and a spare and Riley had one of each (although the machine got a little messed up and didn't record it properly)! There are 'bumpers' along the lanes to eliminate 99% of gutter balls (unless it rolls soooooooo slooooooooow that it falls off *right* before the pins) which really helped! Guess we have ourselves two little Twinkle Toes (a nickname given to Roy by our good friend Chris in Calgary the few times we went bowling together and Chris got to the computer to enter in the names first!) in the making.
I have some really fun videos of the bowling as well. They take a longer time to upload, and I *really* want to get caught up with all my posts after being on forced hiatus for a while, so I will come back and upload them as soon as I can (which may be sometime in the next few days). Check back!
