Summer vacation day 2: Milwaukee to Evanston

We got up and got ready for day 2 of our adventure!  We would explore a few things in Wisconsin and then cross the border into Illinois.  Before we got in the car, we walked along the Riverwalk, saw the Bronze Fonz (which Leighton thought was going to be bronze fawns, lol!), the ladybug building, and the Public Market.  We bought some fruit at the market and wished we were there for lunch to eat all the delicious food we saw!

Stop 1 of our drive was at the Mars Cheese Castle.  There were endless samples of cheeses to taste, a restaurant, and lots of food products and souvenirs to buy.

Stop 2 was in Pleasant Prairie, Wisconsin at the Jelly belly tour.  It isn't their factory (that's in California .... guess we need to start planning our next holiday!), but one of their distribution centers.  There was a really great tour on a train (we always love a train!), a penny press machine, a store full of fun things to look at, and as many samples of ALL their flavors as you could handle!!!  Pretty good for a free tour!  They also gave each of us a bag of jelly beans when we got off the train!

Stop 3 was lunch.  We needed something to soak up all the sugar from the jelly beans.  Although we ended up at Culver's for more frozen custard, so more sugar was consumed, anyway!!

Stop 4 was the Volo Auto Museum.  When I was searching for things to stop and see, I had come across this place and knew that Roy and the kids would all enjoy all the cars there.  They had cars from so many movies!  And they had cars made for and owned by different celebrities, as well as cars from all different eras for sale.  And they had a Barbie car ... and fancy old cars that Riley loved, too. A lot to see!  Here's just a few:

They also had this .... Leighton's very own bronze fawn!!!!

We then drove the rest of the way to Evanston, IL for the night.  We checked into the hotel and relaxed for a while before walking to dinner.
