After getting two sleepy kids out of bed, we had breakfast, watched some of the World Cup game, and were on our way. We had stayed out in Dearborn so hadn't seen downtown Detroit yet. There was a sculpture I wanted to see and we wanted to check out the ball park and football stadium. Unfortunately, there was a baseball game starting soon, so it was really busy and parking was more expensive and difficult to find. So we opted to just drive around and maybe we can come back another time!
We stopped for gas before crossing into Canada, as we had been told gas was way more expensive there. We stopped where there was a 7-11 so the kids could have their first ever Slurpee!
The border crossing was super fast and easy. Yay! Nothing like the looooong lines entering BC from Washington state at the Peace Arch crossing we've done in the past. We stopped in Sarnia/Pt Edward at Canatara Park to touch Lake Huron.
Afterward, we went for 'fries under the bridge' before driving to Guelph.
We hadn't seen Pam and Brent in 10 years! That's just so crazy! And we had never met either of their kids and they had never met Riley. It was so exciting to get there to see them. Brent had stocked up on some local beers for Roy to try! We spent the evening relaxing and drinking and eating dinner and drinking some more. Just like old times! Just with the addition of kids to put to bed!
