The funny things they say: April through July 2018 edition

April 1
We were getting a movie from Red Box, and like Riley's difficulty/inability to say 'wolf' she could not say 'Moana' and instead keeps calling it 'Mulana'.  I am not sure if it's because she just can't get the pronunciation right or if she's mixing it up with the Disney princess Mulan.

April 9
Leighton and I were working on his spelling words and talking about definitions.  When we got to 'zephyr' he said, "Oh I know.  Isn't it a band?  A band called Led Zephyr?"

April 16
Leighton: I learned something today.
Me: What's that?
Leighton: Santa knows us better than the Easter Bunny does.
Me: Why?
Leighton: Well, we got these Secret Life of Pets things, but Santa would know that the long dog that Riley got was one of my favorite characters.  The Easter Bunny didn't know that and gave it to Riley.

May 1st
In the morning, our toaster died, but luckily we already had another one that was newer & cleaner to replace it.  When I mentioned it to Leighton while I was getting him ready for school, he got really sad.  The kid is SO sentimental.  He was sad that we had to throw away the toaster that had made him every piece of toast he'd ever eaten at home since he was a baby.  It made ME sad to toss the toaster, too!  Roy and I bought that toaster at Rite Aid or Kmart the first week we lived in Manhattan in December 2004!!!  I think it was $9.99 - pretty good life span for a cheap toaster!  It was stained and old, but apparently well-loved!  Leighton went to the garbage can and took it out and asked if he could have a picture with it.  Of course Riley wanted one, too.

June 8th
Roy and I had a couple strawberry margaritas and this is what Riley had to say to Roy about it a little while later ....
Riley: You're so hyper tonight!
Roy: I am?  Why?
Riley: Because you drank too much strawberry wine!

June 23rd
When we got to Milwaukee, Riley kept mistakenly calling it MILKwaukee.

June 24th
When we were walking around Milwaukee, I was saying we were going to see the Bronze Fonz, but Leighton was shocked when we got there because he thought it would be FAWNS not the Fonz, ha!

July 4th
Leighton said, "You know how the order of the countries in North America from north to south is Canada, US, and then Mexico?  Canada is on top of the US and the US is on top of Mexico?  Well, I think that's the order of awesomeness for North America, too."

July 12th
Riley and I were getting dinner ready before Roy was home from work and I asked if she wanted to help me make the strawberry margaritas for us.  She ran and made this sign and put it next to Roy's.  Ha!  Anytime Roy is silly, the kids now tease him about too much 'strawberry wine'.

July 2018
Riley was playing a game with her Barbies and was seeing a meal and kept calling the meal 'double douche'.  I was laughing and she was asking why.  It's so funny when the kids come up with a word that they think is made up, but it's a real one!

July 29
Riley was pretending she was the host of some sort of game show or talk show, and she was calling it, "BE a celebrity or DO a celebrity".
