The end of the 2017-18 school year

This was a strange school year - we started with needing to cut the Meet the Teacher short due to weather warnings about the impending arrival of Harvey, and then we were told we would start school 1 week late due to Harvey.  Because that wasn't feasible for the staff, students, faculty, and the city in general, we ended up starting 2 weeks late.  Soon after that we had a day off for the Astros parade.  And then we had a snowfall in December, but no day off for it, but 2 days off for ice and snow in January.  It just seemed like a lot of stop and start and no real rhythm to the year.  I am always excited for the start of summer, but this year, I really felt like we all needed the summer to regroup and recharge!

The kids had their awards days.  Both kids made Honors and got a trophy.

Then it was the actual last day of school!

The kids had class parties, and after school we went to the Bluhm's for a swim party.

I always make the kids a special dessert for the first and last day of school.  This year I was lacking a bit of the time, creativity, and .... motivation/enthusiasm to come up with something big and unique, so I went for something super fast and simple!!

Welcome summer!
