12th (and final) week of summer

I never really know if I consider Sundays as the end of one week or the beginning of another.  Mostly I think of it as the end of a week since the weekend is a unit at the end of the week.  But calendars most often have Sunday as the start of the week.  So maybe this is the end of week 11 AND all of week 12.  Or maybe it's just week 12.  Who knows?!?!  It really doesn't matter though!!!

Anyway ... Sunday we needed to get ourselves organized to actually live in our new home!  But first Leighton was being a goofball and entertaining himself!  Then Roy and Leighton walked for groceries.  We got Riley's bathroom decorated with new towels and a shower curtain.  And Riley and Roy went to buy a little charcoal grill so we could make dinner!  Finally a real meal here!!

Monday morning we started off with yet another trip to the Dr for Riley.  If you're keeping track, that's her FOURTH Dr visit this summer.  FOURTH!  Craziness.  Usually we go for our annual appts and MAYBE one other sick visit during the year.  But, since we left Florida, Riley had been complaining of a sore ear and had a low fever, so it was time to get it checked out.  So thankful for online Dr Appt booking on a Sunday when the office is closed so we could get the Dr we wanted for Monday!  Turns out she had a middle ear infection (hence the fever) and also an outer ear infection (aka Swimmers Ear) in the SAME ear!  Poor girl!  We needed two medications to treat those, including ear drops that are crazy expensive, but luckily kind of affordable with a coupon and our insurance plan.  And while we were at the Dr, I had him look at something on Leighton's leg that had been worrying him since June since it grew a bit and changed color.  It was a wart.  I don't know why I didn't even think of that, especially after treating the ones on Riley's toe!  But, anyway ... we started treating that Right away.  What a summer of Dr visits we had!  Hopefully we don't have anymore for a long time!

I took the kids for lunch at Chipotle to use the coupons they got from the Summer Reading Program at the library.

And in the evening we went to another Astros game!  The kids had earned those tickets from the Summer Reading Program at the library, too.  We got there early for batting practice, and Riley kept her streak alive for getting balls passed her by players!

On Tuesday, I took the kids to see the new Dora movie in the theater.

Wednesday we ran errands, got more keys cut for the house, and Leighton got a haircut.

Thursday we had schedule pick up for Leighton at middle school.  He also got a chance to walk the halls to find his classes and to practice more on opening the lockers.

That evening we went to Riley's new school for the back to school welcome and meet the teacher.

Friday I took the kids for a walk to Smoothie King.  Along the way we passed the taco truck that Roy had tried once, so we decided to walk there for dinner.  It's right across from the Alabama Ice House, and they were showing the Astros game (we STILL didn't have TV or cable .... ) and kids were allowed, so we stopped there to eat our tacos and watch the game and also tried some delicious tamales.  Loving our new neighborhood!!

Oh - and I made Leighton take out the recycling while we were out there playing catch!

We rented movies to watch since we didn't have TV yet.  And Leighton decided to start stealing my housecoat.

Saturday we made lunch and Riley was taking pictures of her sandwiches that she made by herself!

Sunday it was rainy and blah outside.  We still have no TV or internet and wanted to see the Little League World Series championship game, so we went to Roy's office to watch.  I also had a bunch of online banking and other things I wanted to get done, so it was productive!
