Back to school!

I never know how 12 weeks of summer can go by so fast!  But, before we knew it, it was back to school time!  It was all new to us this year with both kids starting at new schools.

First, Roy and I took Riley to school.  We were allowed to walk her in on the first day, so we got to see her classroom again and her locker.

Then we came home and took Leighton to school since he starts an hour later than Riley.  I guess we didn't technically take him to school.  The three of us walked within a block of the school and then Leighton went off with Ariel.  He did not want us to walk him right there!

After school we picked up Riley and then walked all together to get Leighton an hour later.

I made some apple cupcakes for back to school dessert.

  
The next day we did the same drop off and pick up of Leighton, but that was the end of that.  He wanted to be totally independent and walk on his own to/from school.  Such a big change for us!  Here he is walking home the first time when I was waiting at the window for him (I don't do that anymore - and he's happy about that!)!

a huge storm came in and it was neat to see from our upstairs window!

Lots of different uniform variations!  I still need to get one of Riley in her red top.

And just because and nothing to do with first week of school stuff .... Leighton's new bathroom decor.
