Tuesday Leighton and I went to see the new Lion King. Riley didn't think she'd want to see it based on the previews, so the two of us walked down to the theater near us after dinner for a little mommy-son date night.
When we got home, Leighton was watching the Yankees game, and it went late. Riley fell asleep on the couch!
The next morning, we met Monica and the kids at Dave & Busters. They've been begging to go for about 3 years!
We went to HEB for some groceries and were very excited to see cherries from Hood River, Oregon!
The kids had asked to walk to Costco one more time before we moved. They wanted smoothies and a churro, so we went for those. While we were there, Leighton somehow convinced me to let him get the mocha one. I wasn't thinking ... it was basically a blended coffee! Oops! He loved it. But, he also couldn't sleep that night and woke me up in the middle of the night and we spent many hours on the couch where I dozed and he read all night. NO more coffee!
On Friday night, Roy and I went to dinner with Dana and Scott. Our server let us know that Mick Jagger had a reservation for that evening. His group was there, but he wasn't yet when we left. About 30 minutes later, apparently JJ Watt was there taking pictures with Mick Jagger and posting them to social media. We missed them both by 30 minutes!
Saturday morning,we packed up and left for 2 nights in Frisco, TX. I had found their minor league baseball stadium with a lazy river in the outfield last year and really wanted to go once the tickets for this year went on sale.
We made a weekend of it and also visited the US Soccer Hall of Fame (it's at the Dallas MLS stadium and there was a game that night but much to the disappointment of our children, we didn't go!) .... t
AND
The BBQ restaurant we had gone to a couple years ago on Spring Break with the delicious brisket and ribs and peach cobbler ....
AND
Happy Hour at the hotel ...
AND
Roy took Riley for a swim ...
AND
We hung out in the room and could see the fireworks at the stadium after the game ended on Saturday night!
AND
We visited The Crayola Experience (we had gone to the Crayola Factory when we lived in NYC so knew the kids, especially Riley, would enjoy a couple hours of art activities) ...
| I blended in with the red crayon section in the store! |
AND
The area where the Dallas Cowboys practice facility is for some pizza (super good!) and ice cream ....
Before it even was time for the game!! We enjoyed playing catch (and doing cartwheels) on the field before the game, meeting the mascots, and the kids got free hats for joining the kids club. We were in the water most of the game and enjoyed the food they provided. Near the end of the game, we got out and changed and went to sit in some seats to watch a couple innings. A man near us gave Riley a ball (no surprise!!) and she got some autographs after the game. The kids got to run the bases, too.
The next day we drove home and stopped for Braums on the way! We loooove a Braums milkshake!
