Monday
We started the week with tennis and library visits. After dinner, the kids had some more of the Shipley Donut ice cream. I think they like it :)
Tuesday
Happy Canada Day! The kids were excited to put on their red and white, but it was strange to not have Grandma and Papa here this year. The past two years they have been here and we've gone to Half Price Books and Grimaldi's on July 1st! I did take the kids to Half Price Books though. They turned in their June reading logs to get their $5 coupons and we also sold back a few books Papa had left here. They spent all that (and more, of course!) in no time! And we also went to watch a program on Simple Machines at the Library.
And in the afternoon, Kate, Georgia and Clementine came to swim.
Wednesday
Roy came to see Leighton's tennis, but we skipped out on the rest of our usual Wednesday routine because Roy was heading to Italy for a work trip in the afternoon and we wanted to see him before he left.
Thursday
We went with Lindsey and the kids to an indoor play place in Sugar Land called Stompin Grounds. All the kids had a super fun time. Leighton was so good with taking Riley through it to get her comfortable.
Friday
Happy 4th of July! Again, it was a bit strange to not have Grandma and Papa here. The last two years they have been here and I made American Flag inspired desserts. Roy was also away on his Italy trip, so the kids and I spent the day with Lindsey, Charlie, Maeve, and Nash. In the morning we went to the Bellaire parade and festival. We also bumped into Kate and Garrick and the girls for a hot dog lunch. Later on, we had BBQ dinner and play time with Lindsey and Charlie and the kids again.
Saturday
I took the kids for Menchie's - I had my birthday coupon to use up and it had been AGES since we were there, so to kill time while Daddy was away - we went for ice cream!
