We spent the early part of the morning playing with the big bubble makers and Grandma's awesome bubble solution. Here is the recipe! She says when she got it, it was entitled "The Only Bubble Recipe that Really Works"! And note that this makes a huge amount so it can work for giant bubble wands. If you want less, just cut it down!
1 cup dish soap (Ultra Dawn blue original scent works best)
12 cups water
1/4 cup glycerine
Stir them a little but don't make a froth. Works best if it sits overnight before using.
We all then went up to Richard and Evelyn's for brunch. Half the group walked and half drove. Roy and I were in the driving half (I had muffins and scones to transport!) but the kids were in the walking half!
Evelyn had planned for cornbread to be on the menu because she had remembered just how much Roy adored the cornbread she brought to my parents' for dinner one Christmas vacation many, many years ago. However, she couldn't remember which of the two recipes she makes she had brought that night, so she made him both to taste test!
There was lots of eating and chatting and catching up.
And the kids and Sascha went on a raspberry picking adventure.
With a side of 'old man's beard' lesson …
And then the kids got Evelyn to let them explore more of the garden. We brought home bags of carrots and tomatoes and cucumbers and dill and cilantro. The kids ate those carrots for days … didn't finish them until we were at our layover in Phoenix on the way home!
The kids loved the hammock. Didn't even want to give me a turn!
I think we went swimming at the lake this afternoon, but I don't have any photos of it!
It was pizza night for dinner. Riley was Grandma's little helper in the kitchen.
And I was there, too! Not in focus, but it doesn't matter since it was just a fun memory to capture.
We kept the kids up late for a s'mores, sparklers, and glow stick evening.
