Vacation time! Day 2!

Driving day!  Thanks to the time difference and getting to bed at a good time, we were all up early, had some breakfast, and then hit up Target on the way out of town for snacks for the kids for the week.

We stopped in Castlegar, BC for A&W.  Leighton has sampled some A&W root beer at the Deneen's while swimming there and we thought it would be fun for him to get a frosty mug of it.  Well, he wasn't impressed.  Apparently he only likes it from a can while in the Deneen's hot tub.  I enjoyed my root beer.  And my poutine.  Hello Canada!

After some more driving and the spotting of a deer on the side of the road, and excitedly showing Leighton the giant mountains (Riley was asleep!), we pulled off the highway up onto my parents' dirt driveway.  And then it was time to explore at Grandma and Papa's!

Better pick the few huckleberries on the bush.

Look what Grandma bought for playing with.

And some butterfly nets.

And check out the creek on the back side of the house.

And play some baseball.

And pick some flowers.

And put the flowers in a vase.

And try out the thimbleberries that grow wild all over the place.

And play with Mommy's old toys.

And the new toys and play doh Grandma had.

And eventually eat dinner, bath, and go to bed.  In Mommy's old bedroom!  With the kids sleeping together for the first time ever!
