Summer vacation: Week 7

We started the week with having Douniazed and the kids here to swim Monday morning and Pauline and the kids here to swim and for dinner Monday afternoon/evening.

Unfortunately, Riley went to bed with a headache on Monday night and woke in the middle of the night with a fever.  We were housebound most of the rest of the week with her being feverish and recovering and then Leighton catching it.  Here is a picture of Leighton having lunch and reading before he got sick.

They were both in the non-fever and non-contagiuos window on Thursday morning for us to run some errands and go to the Ronald Mcdonald story time at the library (and, shockingly, the kids stood with him for a photo!).  Leighton didn't get the fever until the ride home, and luckily it was short-lived.

Even though the fever was long gone, we decided to get Leighton to the Dr on Saturday morning to check if his really sore throat was Strep Throat because Grace and Sam had just been diagnosed and we wanted to make sure we had any prescriptions necessary before vacation.  Luckily the Strep test came back negative and his throat started feeling better on Sunday.

Saturday we did take the kids to the circus (so glad they were no longer feverish and contagious since we already had the tickets!).  The kids earned free tickets through one of their summer reading programs and Roy and I just had to pay for ourselves.  The kids loved most of the circus (some parts were a little long and repetitive) and gave us sweet little looks until we (and by 'we' I mean Roy) caved and spoiled them with over-priced souvenirs!

After the circus we were off to the Deneens for a BBQ and swim party to say good bye to the Kneuls.  We stayed until after dark, and Jenn got some glow sticks for the pool.  The boys had loads of fun diving for them.  The girls were too busy playing dress up inside!

Sunday we had Lindsey and Charlie and the kids here to swim and have brunch snacks by the pool.
