In the morning we went to the zoo splash park with Lindsey and the kids, Jenny and the kids, and Michelle and the girls.
After the zoo, the kids and I went to the big Target. I wanted to look for some water shoes for Riley and a couple other things. We ended up spending about 2 hours there! We explored all sorts of areas of the store and filled a cart with about $180 worth of stuff! It was lots of fun and air conditioned!
Tuesday
We started the morning with a hair cut for Leighton. He is now seeing my stylist, who has moved salons, and the new one is in the same little strip mall as Shipley Donuts, so I treated the kids to a donut.
After that, went for our last Miss Missy story time of the summer in the morning, and then we were off for our IKEA lunch, art, and ice cream.
Wednesday
In the morning we met Kate and the girls at The Rienzi for the story time there. We had never been and had heard so many good things about it.
When we got home, Riley must have been inspired because she was doing some art of her own. She drew a nice picture of me with my phone in my hand sitting on the couch next to Stella.
She then wanted to take a picture of me and Stella with our portrait.
Thursday
Leighton woke up with a swollen forehead and 'frozen angry eyebrows'. We think he got bitten by a spider on his ear on Wednesday because it was red and itchy in the afternoon, and he remembers walking through a spider web on his face at The Rienzi and being itchy right after. At dinner, he started getting hives on his cheeks, forehead, and neck. We gave him a few doses of Benadryl to try to help him out, but he did wake up not looking like himself and a little agitated that he felt like everyone was thinking he was angry at them because of his 'frozen angry eyebrows'. But we went about our morning plan to meet Douniazed and the kids at the MFAH. I had been meaning to take the kids all summer and finally we made it happen! The kids loved the art installation they could walk through (and I wished I would have remembered my big camera for photos instead of just my phone!), and after exploring that and the tunnel with lights, we went for the kids' sketching activity. Here are some photos and a few videos, too:
Friday we left for our vacation! I will have all of that fun in separate posts!
